Lots of stuff to talk about at the beginning of this week:

– The official Fall session for the federal Parliament begins today. The Conservatives and Harper will now begin the process of ending or killing everything they don’t like ideologically – which they now can do with their majority. Most governments try to create a legacy when they’re in government. Harper and his bunch will have a legacy that I predict will end up being remembered for trying to destroy everything that is Liberal or liberal oriented. Predictions on how long a “productive Parliament” will last.

You may have seen this article in the Toronto Star this morning, with calls from several MP’s from different MP’s hoping for a more “productive Parliament” this session:

Government House leader Jay Hill…called on all MPs not to “refight the last election campaign” and said the low turnout in the Oct. 14 vote should send a signal to every MP that Canadians are souring on the tone of federal politics. “They would like to see us work co-operatively together as much as possible. On picking and choosing parliamentary convention.

I saw this over at Accidental Deliberations this morning over where Steve Janke is apparently advocating that the Liberals be stripped of their Official Opposition title as a party by the Governor-General and the title handed to the NDP, because according to Steve’s logic, since they abstained from the Throne Speech, they aren’t really providing an effective opposition. The Jurist over at AC is surprised no Liberal bloggers have come forth to criticize his proposal.
