I love the retro 70’s look from Norway

On a much lighter Olympic note, the Norwegian Curling team’s pants are a hit. What pants, you say? If you haven’t been watching curling, it’s these ones:

Someone decided to create a fan page for their pants at Facebook, and they’re now over 313 thousand members. Not bad at all. They’re also getting widespread media coverage of their choice of decor, and that’s not bad publicity for the sport of curling either.

Most importantly, they’re backing up their fancy look with good play. They are one of Canada’s main threats right now for a gold medal.

In case anyone was wondering what ended up happening at this, Sherry Middaugh’s team was one of 2 that advanced to the Ontario Women’s provincials from this region at the tournament held at the Norwich Ontario Curling Club. She and her team went undefeated. I also must say I was very impressed at her demeanor and friendliness at the club. Their team is very business like just prior to and during a game, but they are far from being “stuck-up” because of their being an elite curling team.

My best wishes to them at the Provincials and hopefully the Scott Tournament of Hearts.


Something off-topic today: Curling

A little different topic today from the usual politics. I’ve been at Norwich today watching the women regionals taking place at the Norwich Curling Club. The top 2 teams go to the provincials, which is the level of curling just below the Women Curling National Championship (otherwise known as the Scott Tournament of Hearts).

Among the teams entered into this regional are Sherry Middaugh’s team, a well known and very good team, and Anne Dunn’s team.
