Welcoming in a new LPC Communications Director (edit: & Dir of Ops & Outreach)

Via Twitter comes this tweet from Mylene Dupere:

“Very enthusiastic to join @JustinTrudeau’s team as Director of Communications next Monday”

Who is Mylene Dupere? Her Twitter account only mentions she is a “public relations specialist”. Her LinkedIn page says she is (was) the Manager, Media Services at PWGSC (Public Works and Government Services).  Previous to that, she has experience in a couple of other government departments (HRSDC, Heritage) , so she has experience in working in the public service/public administration field.

Other then that, I don’t know a lot about her (nothing, actually). Perhaps my Liberal colleagues “in the know” can enlighten us (or me).

Regardless, as I said to her on Twitter, those of us in the Liberal netroots/blogosphere will be watching with interest her media communications strategy for the LPC going forward – particularly with how she deals with social media and the blogosphere (and with Liberal bloggers in particular), and so on, as that is an area that needs improvement (in my opinion of course).

I wish her the best at this new position and good luck.

EDIT: While we’re welcoming people, we have another new member of the Liberal office: Marlene Floyd is the new Director for Operations and Outreach. Prior to this, she worked at the Earnscliffe Strategy Group, and is also the cofounder and chair of the charity group Dress For Success Ottawa, whose main goal is to “promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life”. Best wishes and good luck to her as well

One tweet says “welcome back to the hill, Mylene”.

Means she once worked for an MP or something?

    • There’s an article in today (I can only read the summary, as I’m not a subscriber) that mentions she worked for Irwin Cotler and was Press Secretary with interim Liberal leader Bill Graham.
