An observation on the Norway bombings/shootings

As you’ve no doubt heard, a far right extremist gunman who holds anti-immigration, anti-Muslim views decided to vent his wrath on the governing Socialist Party in Norway yesterday, blowing up a government building and then massacring scores of young socialist teenager members  on an island. The death toll is horrific.

I’m waiting for those on the extreme right of the blogosphere/political spectrum to declare Canada should be deporting all Norwegians; you know;  paint the whole nation of Norway with one prejudicial brush as they do with Muslims, and as they did yesterday before the actual facts came out. The rush to presuming it was a) Al-Queda, and b) declaring angrily all Muslims should be deported – or worse -  and that this proved once again Islam was an evil religion, etc etc ad nauseam. was disgusting to see, yet unfortunately entirely predictable.

    Rightwing anti-muslim Christian, huh?

    In his own words:

“There might come a time when we, the PCCTS, Knights Templar will consider to use or even to work as a proxy for the enemies of our enemies.

Under these circumstances, the PCCTS, Knights Templar will for the future consider working with the enemies of the EU/US hegemony such as Iran (South Korea is unlikely), al-Qaeda, al-Shabaab or the rest of the devout fractions of the Islamic Ummah with the intention for deployment of small nuclear, radiological, biological or chemical weapons in Western European capitals and other high priority locations.

Justiciar Knights and other European Christian martyrs can avoid the scrutiny normally reserved for individuals of Arab descent and we can ensure successful deployment and detonation in the location of our choice. ”

“Q: Do I have to believe in God or Jesus in order to become a Justiciar Knight?

no, you don’t need to have a personal relationship with God or Jesus to fight for our Christian cultural heritage. It is enough that you are a Christian-agnostic or a Christian-atheist (an atheist who wants to preserve at least the basics of the European Christian cultural legacy”

Don’t swallow every bucket of bilgewater the liberal media throws at you.

Numbnuts. Just because one doesn’t _have_ to be a Christian to be a Mason doesn’t mean that this whacko wasn’t both a Christian and a Mason.

Here’s the religion of peace scorecard for today, anyone want to make a similar list for non muslims?

One madman is not a trend.
Everyday massacres are.“2011.07.26 (Yala, Thailand) – Muslim ‘insurgents’ shoot a civilian to death in front of his 6-year-old daughter.
2011.07.25 (Muqdadiya, Iraq) – Terrorists plant a bomb near a hospital which leaves three dead.
2011.07.25 (Kirkuk, Iraq) – Two people bleed to death following a Mujahideen bomb blast at a restaurant.
2011.07.25 (Helmand, Afghanistan) – Two young boys, anges 9 and 13, are taken out by a Taliban landmine.
2011.07.25 (Yala, Thailand) – Teachers are the targets of a bomb attack by Muslim ‘insurgents’.
2011.07.24 (Zarqa, Jordan) – A 35-year-old woman is murdered by her brother for having sex outside of marriage. “

Cue the ‘It’s Sarah Palin’s fault’ in 3…2…1…

Hoe many muslims did this anti-muslim madman kill?

We once had a PM who wanted to blame 9/11 on poverty. The mark of a confused man.

“And I do think that the Western world is getting too rich in relation to the poor world and necessarily will be looked upon as being arrogant and self-satisfied, greedy and with no limits. The 11th of September is an occasion for me to realize it even more.”

The Norwegian tragedy, like 9/11, to me realizes that evil exists….Islamist, lone Nazi’s, or otherwise.

It has nothing to do with poverty, climate change, or whatever.

Attacking white Christian Norwegians would be wrong, true.

However, it’s overtime for an attack on violence-promoting right wing nut cases. Let’s make them all guests of the state, if necessary for the rest of their natural lives.

The general value of tolerance entails certain things to which we are absolutely intolerant. A belief that certain races, religions, or national groups are intrinsically evil should be one of those things.

    • Stan

      Name one.
Name one violence promoting rightwing nut case.

      This guy was a madman.
      Deranged, insane, nuts, etc.

      And he’s ONE guy.

Notice how nobody bothered to reply to you? That’s how ridiculous your comment was. It didn’t even deserve contempt.

  • Since mine is the second post, I will reply. Had one Muslim caused the terrorist acts in Norway, we would be reading vile comments about Muslims. Since a white European Christian Norwegian has been accused of these attacks, I don’t see anyone attacking those “vile,” white, Christian Norwegians. Hopefully I won’t.

From the Guardian: “If he harboured far-right beliefs, he would be strongly opposed to the Norwegian government’s pursuit of peace and conflict resolution, Paul Wilkinson, Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the University of St Andrews, told PA.”

It is the far right we need to be afraid of. And, for the record, Norwegians are great drivers.

  • The Nowegians are a very peaceful nation. I sm related to them because a great many of my ancestors came fom the Isle of Lewis Scotland snd the Norwegians married with the Celts.
The 2nd reply is not nice, I agree.

  • Roll Tide

This is an act of terrorism plain and simple. It appears the man was every bit as politically motivated as Major Nidal Malik Hasan was religiously motivated.

  • ridenrain

I’m not seeing anyone run down the people of Norway, other than the 2nd post.

    • Redrum

You Blogging Bories coming here darkening the doors are pretty thick, as usual.

Scott was being sarcastic, in saying he’s waiting for you Cons to vilify the Norwegians as a whole for this episode, as you have the Muslims; and Skinny Dipper was being satirical in obliging him.

    • b_nichol

      Shorter ridenrain:
“I am aware of all internet traditions”

  • Observer

Is the New York Times, BBC and Washington Post good enough for you?

  • ridenrain

So who was that running down the people from Norway again? I haven’t seen one blog that didn’t identinfy this as anything other than the actions of a mad man.

  • The Norwegians took over large parts of Saskatchewan during the last century. Now I understand why “Saskatchewhiners” (Colbert Report) should not be trusted. We should send all the Norwegians eastward–to Manitoba.

I forgot to add: Norwegian-Canadians do not know how to drive. They drive like Norwegians. They also brang (sic) the Norweg virus into Canada. They are barbarians just like their Viking ancestors. In the following YouTube video, I recognized these characters as barbaric Norwegians:

  • John

Yeah. A bigoted yet predictable reaction by the right!

And check out the spin this morning. Many of the usual Harperites on Twitter are spouting that if Norwegians were allowed to carry sidearms, this wouldn’t have happened! They are using this tragedy to promote their anti gun control agenda!

Sometimes, I just cannot believe the idiocy of these people!

    • Stan

The truth is if someone had a gun they could have stopped the madman.

That’s kinda why policmen carry them…..
