C.R.U.S.H. has the Conservatives attention.

What’s that quote from Ghandi? “First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.” I believe is the quote. C.R.U.S.H. (Canadians Rallying to Unseat Stephen Harper) has apparently jumped to the “fight” part of that equation with the Conservatives. Check out this snippet in the middle of another anti-CBC rant by the Conservative faithful in another Jane Taber “internal Conservative email”. We find this:

The CBC-bashing continues unabated as Tory strategists uncover more revelations of so-called Liberal bias at the network. Mary Pynenberg, the viewer who inspired a recent poll on women in politics, is not only a former Liberal candidate but is also a “radical anti-Stephen Harper group,” according to the latest internal Tory talking points…Ms. Pynenburg is also the vice-president of the National Women’s Liberal Commission and “a proud member of Canadians Rallying to Unseat Stephen Harper (CRUSH), a radical anti-Stephen Harper group,” the Tory missive says.

(h/t Dammit Janet!)

I’d like to thank the Conservative Party of Canada for the free publicity that results from this for the CRUSH group – a lot more then they could probably ever dream of getting for the paid ads they’ve run.

I’d also like to thank them for clarifying what they consider to be a “radical group” – apparently, that is anyone who opposes Stephen Harper and his agenda, as well as the the way he runs from Parliament when they try to hold his minority administration accountable. Got it… so basically about 2/3 of Canada’s voters are “radicals”.

UPDATE @ 10:46 pm: I was asked in comments for this, so I’ll repost it in the update. The C.R.U.S.H website is here, and their Facebook page is here

Re the “radical” moniker – I’m finding that hilarious. I’ve met several of the CRUSH folks and they seem like normal, well-adjusted, intelligent, average citizens to me. Much like the two-thirds of Canadians who didn’t vote for the CONS!

As to Prairie Kid’s comments about the CBC’s use of viewer question – if you thought that was partisan, what do you call the millions of taxpayer’s dollars that the CONS use to advertise via the Canada’s Economic Action Plan ploy?

    So, when are the

    I’m a proud member of a “Radical Anti-Harper” Group

T-shirts and coffee mugs coming out?!

Seriously! I’d buy one in every colour!!

  • @Stephen Harper, what were you doing in Etobicoke this AM? 😉

  • Stephen Harper

Those radicals over on CRUSH better watch their back. Did you see what I did to Garth Turner and Helena G? I’dd do the same to you too.

  • Scott… Could you please post a link to Crush (and on Facebook)? Thanks man!

  • I’m one of the organizing team at C.R.U.S.H. and I found it hilarious that we are being called a radical group. I don’t think anyone has ever referred to me as radical without guffawing hysterically. I’m among the most timid and moderate of people on this planet.

I’m with C.R.U.S.H. because I think the Harper Government has repeatedly acted in an anti-democratic manner and, therefore, deserves to be democratically unseated. If that makes me a radical, then so be it.

who knew? Me, a radical? Sweet!!!

  • Pynenberg was not known to the CBC and was chosen for her question based on merit. The only shame the CBC should shoulder is having Kory Tenecky, a Tory hack, on its panels. Seems to be conveniently forgotten by Prairie Baby and his ilk.

@Billy Nobels, There is more that Conservative blowhard Kory Tenecky, you’ll often see fluffers such as Tasha K. of the National Post, Manning Center for Democracy without being identified as a such…

The CBC is quickly loosing neutrality and for the Conservatives, they will only be happy once the network unabashedly spews Conservative propaganda 24/7. Remember these are the same people that would have made us believe that the Pufster (Mike Duffy) was neutral.

      @Billy Nobels,

“Pynenberg was not known to the CBC and was chosen for her question based on merit.”

      CBC didn’t know?

  • Wot fun!

Seriously, this oughta send some dough CRUSH’s way. *evil grin*

  • Prairie Kid

Once again Liberals are missing the point. CRUSH can get all the publicity they want. But for the CBC to pretend that they are getting a question from a non partisan Canadian who turns out to be as partisan as one can get, reminds me of Garth Turners tour of his riding where he drops in to a typical household (turns out to be his son in law) but fails to mention the relationship.

    • @Prairie Kid, thank you for displaying an example of Conservative Party paranoia towards the CBC.

    • ck

Prairie Kid, I am curious, you have every other media outlet, must you have the CBC as well, which is little by little going Conservative btw; it’s pres Hubert Lacroix is a Harpercon supporter.
