We’ve seen election prediction sites pop up recently, and it’s no different for the Ontario election – you can now go here and enter in predictions and see what the site predicts for total seats of each party from the percentages you input in. It’s a nice little site, and it’s also available on Facebook as an application.
One complaint I have however, and I’ve passed this onto the folks who run this – the final predicted outcome lists each party’s predicted % of seats. I had to sit down and figure out for a minute how exactly they’d arrived at those percentages, because I thought they were calculating what I thought the percentage of each party would get for popular vote. I’ve written them and suggested that they change the predictor so that it lists the actual predicted # of seats instead.
UPDATE: To give feedback to the folks on their application, send your email here
Brendan:
I've noted a flaw in your predictor's calculating in a recent post.
Hi Scott, thx for the mention, and yeah, we're working on having the seat prediction in Facebook appear as actual seat numbers vs percentage of seats (as opposed to popular vote)… that should be in place (hopefully) within 24 hours… cheers
