As some of you might know, well-known leftie author Naomi Klein has written another book called “Shock Doctrine”. She has also however released a short film accompanying the book, which I present here for your viewing pleasure:
A description of the book can be found here. The publishers of Klein’s latest book have been in contact with me and asked if I wanted to do a book review of this. I’ve agreed to do so, so once I’ve received the book from them and finished reading it, look for Shock Doctrine book review from me.
For an interesting take on Klein and her politics, you should check out Andrew Potter and Joseph Heath’s book "The Rebel Sell". They are both self-described lefties, but take the usual Klein-esque capitalist critique to task: http://www.thismagazine.ca/issues/2002/11/rebelsell.php Potter and Heath scare me because if the Left ever starts listening to them, they will be a much improved force.
Thanks for the tip, I will point all my "lefty" friends to that link. Potter and Heath – yeah, imagine – people wising up to the mass corruption and immorality of our time – what a concept!
Individual rights have decreased. All without due justification.
Arbitrary authority has increased. This will always occur if allowed.
It is a failure of citizens; and a success of incorporates.
I am very intrigued by this book. Macleans (That bastion of right wing tabloidism) has a very good interview with Klein about the book.
