In beautiful (but humid) Ottawa

So after a long day of train-riding (9 hours with a 2 hr stopover) I’m in Ottawa this weekend for a little Progressive Blogger get-together with some of the Ottawa Prog Blog folks. This evening 7 of us got together at Darcy Mcgee’s, the popular pub/bar on Sparks Street. No pictures from that unfortunately, but in attendance were: John Baglow of Dawg’s Blawg, (also a moderator at Prog Blog), Marcel Mason of StageLeft, myself, Justin Tetreault of Northern Ontario Liberal, Jeff Jedras of a BC’er in Toronto, Vicky Plouffe of Presenting The World, and Leo Bourdon of La Ruche.

Some very good political and blogging discussion ensued. Unfortunately, I had to leave a tad early, so I missed Jason Cherniak and Quito Maggi showing up later. Not sure if some others who were invited made it or not. Anyhow.. it was real good to meet everyone, and I’m going to meet a few more at the BBQ tomorrow. Pictures will be taken there, I promise πŸ™‚

  • Did you guys put up a sign? Cuz I didn't see one…

  • What Dawg said… we were there from 3 pm til well after 7 pm.

There WAS a thing called my cellphone # – listed in the event on Facebook – which you could have used to phone me. πŸ™‚

  • We were at Trolley Station 112 (big covered building by the park away from the water and the festival), had a bbq fire going. Looked for you in vain! Sorry we didn't meet up.

  • Ok, so I loaded the family and we went to Britainia Park, arriving about 4:20 p.m.  We wandered around looking for any sign of  the Prog Bloggers. Considering the Canadian Muslim Association was having a picnic, it was a bit crowded, but I thought for sure Scott, you would have stood out like a sore thumb. We looked on the right side of the Ron Kolbus Centre by the BBQ pits to no avail. We wandered past the beach. We went to the other side of the parking lot, by the windsurfers and had a bit of a picnic then headed home at about 5:45 p.m.

So, where were you guys? I'm very bummed that we didn't hook up…

  • Can’t wait for the pictures πŸ˜‰ Thanks for all of the updates, Scott! Wish I were there πŸ™

  • Jason and Quiti arrived in town around 10ish.  Leo and I went to say hello to them at Darcy's, but didn't stay very long since they had sat down in front of the house band which was quite loud…

    Looking forward to tomorrow…
