I just wanted to give some props to David Eaves and Taylor Owen (both affiliated with Progressive Bloggers and/or Liblogs) for their excellent article in the Toronto Star commemorating the 10th anniversary of blogging. The best quote of the whole article is here:
…blogging continues to be misunderstood by both technophiles and technophobes. For the past decade the former have maintained that blogs will replace traditional journalism, ushering in an era of citizen-run media. Conversely, the latter have argued that a wave of amateurs threatens the quality and integrity of journalism – and possibly even democracy.
Both are wrong.
Why do Taylor and David think both are wrong? Go read the entire article to find out.
Arguing over blogs = supporting the blogosphere's staple chitchat since 1999.
Ah yes – I skipped over that one – my mistake and I stand corrected 😉
I'd say no to your 2nd question. Look at how the article is started by David and Taylor:
Although hard to believe, this month marks the 10th anniversary of blogging, a method for regularly publishing content online..
Wasn't the anniversary some two weeks ago?
Or perhaps the Star lazily (and unduly) postponed the publication of the article … ?
