Batten down The hatches, and watch out for the rampaging snowmobilers.

A rather quiet day today. When you have a headache, you don’t really feel like blogging too much.

The big news around here is about the winter storm we’ll be getting (in progress as I type) – the first major one of the season.

My biggest annoyance with winter storms isn’t the snow – I LOVE winter.. its my favourite time of the year (traditional Canadian winter I’m talking here – not global warming/climate change/hardly any snow winter).

No, my beef is with those folks who own snowmobiles around here (and you’d be shocked to see how many in a town in the so-called “banana belt of Ontario” own these things) who feel its their obligation to tear up and down the streets and sidewalks while the storm is in progress and afterwards. I guess they want to show everyone a) how cool they are and b) how they can get around while no one else can. One of these days they’re going to run into someone and kill them.

Isn’t that the worst Scott. We moved last year, but at our old place, it was non-stop. They chewed up our lawn, scared me half to death when I was out walking.

We had the Bruce Trail at the end of our street and we were on the Escarpment. Really clear signs, no bikes, no ATV’s and no snowmobiles. They tore up the place. Knocked down trees, ruined the earth and all indigenous plant material…a real mess.

I wish I could say it was just kids, but it wasn’t. Lot’s of, “I have the right” kind of adults sadly.

Thanks for the warning, Mom… what are your thoughts on running with scissors? :em22:
